How does IDme work?

1. Press panic button

The panic button is activated by tapping on the 'Press to panic' button on the home screen of the IDme mobile application or by saving *120*880*084124#  as a speed-dial and triggering via a long press.

2. Find phone location

The whereabouts of the cell phone will be determined via GPS. Alternatively, the location of the handset will be calculated by establishing the distance of the cell phone in relation to the nearest cellular tower (MTN & Vodacom only).

3. Alert ER24 EMS

When the panic button is activated, an instant alert will be triggered at the ER24 EMS Contact Centre. The Contact Centre co-ordinator will attempt to reach the person telephonically.

4. Dispatch emergency unit

The ER24 EMS co-ordinator will dispatch the appropriate unit once the exact nature of the distress call has been determined.

5. Notify next of kin

The co-ordinator will communicate with the next of kin (as specified on the subscriber account) and keep them informed of the situation.

Other considerations include but are not limited to airport availability, weather conditions and distance to be covered as assessed by the Contact Centre doctor. Our Contact Centre and operational team will determine whether transport will be provided by medically-equipped helicopter, regular scheduled flight or road.

What if I don't have medical aid?

ER24 will absorb the cost of the emergency transport.

How do I activate the panic service?

If the user has the Mobile Application, the panic is activated by tapping on the panic button in the ER24 IDme application.
• The user must ensure that he/she has data.

If the user has a feature phone, the panic is activated by dialling *120*880*084124# (Tip – save this as a speed dial).
• The user must ensure that he/she has airtime.

Emergency Response, Stabilisation?

ER24's Contact Centre will immediately dispatch an appropriate road or air ambulance which is staffed by our appropriately qualified emergency medical care practitioners. Once at the scene of the incident, life-saving support will be provided to the patient and where relevant, the patient will be stabilised before transfer is provided to the closest most appropriate medical facility or as per client customised requirements.

Medical Assistance Hotline?

ER24 medical personnel, including paramedics, nurses and doctors, will be available 24 hours a day to provide general medical assistance. This is an advisory and information service, as a telephonic conversation does not permit an accurate diagnosis.

Telephonic Trauma Support Lines?

ER24's Trauma Support team will provide support and trauma counselling. Telephonic counselling services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
